Every year Apple introduce new iPhones, and this year is no different. Apple announced 3 new phones yesterday i.e. iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. Confusing names aside, all new phones are similar in shape but different in size and specifications. New lineup features 7-nanometer A12 bionic chip processor which Apple claims is 15 percent faster than last year’s A11 chip in the iPhone X. A12 bionic chip has a 6-core CPU, with two high-performance cores and also a new 4-core GPU.
If you find that notch on iPhone X peeking from the top of screen hideous then we apologize in advance for bearing bad news as you will have to live with the same notch this year too because Apple is serious on winning the worst tattoo contest.
iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
If you are thinking that XS stands for extra small then you are wrong, well not completely wrong because iPhone XS is still the smallest in screen size among the new lineup but XS is pronounced as “Ten S”. The iPhone XS features 5.8 inch edge to edge super retina OLED screen and its big brother iPhone XS Max features 6.5 inch screen. Both phones offer 458 PPI, same as previous year model iPhone X.
The premium XS lineup offers smart HDR which can not only produce HDR photos faster but also in more detail. It comes in silver, gold and space gray, all in stainless steel and water resistant upto two meters.
- iPhone XS is $999 for the 64GB, $1149 for the 256GB, and $1349 for 512GB
- iPhone XS Max $1099 for 64GB, $1249 for 256GB and $1449 for 512GB
Looks like you don’t have to sell your kidney to get new iPhone after all. There is an affordable colorful version of iPhone too and it’s called iPhone XR and pronounced as iPhone “Ten R”. The iPhone XR features 6.1 inch edge to edge liquid retina LCD screen and offers 326 PPI.
Less pixels and no HDR display means the new affordable iPhone XR display won’t look as good as the XS phones. XR does not offer 2X optical zoom, and lacks 3D Touch as well. It comes in 6 colors, all in aluminum body with glass back and water resistant upto one meter.
- iPhone XR is $749 for the 64GB, $799 for the 128GB, and $899 for 256GB
There are some improvements in terms of performance, speed and capacity as compared to last year model iPhone X, but we haven’t seen anything new as we expect every year from Apple. Is Apple the same as it was with Steve Jobs? Will Apple be the same again? Leave a comment and let us know.
