Ladies and gentlemen! The suspense is finally over. Yes, we are talking about Aquaman and let’s just say you do not want to miss watching it in the cinema. The movie has totally lived up to the hype earlier created by the trailer. The awesome cast didn’t hurt either. Jason Mamoa as Arthur Curry AKA Aquaman has literally blown our minds, but then we already know how talented an actor he is from Game of Thrones. Patrick Wilson as Orm (Arthur’s half-brother), Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Yahya Abdul Mateen as Blank Manta, have played their parts exceptionally well.
The movie revolves around Aquaman’s half human and half Atlantean life, and how he realizes his inner strength along the way and conquers his fear. He not only saves lives of people of Atlantis, but also of those living on the surface. Black Manta also made an appearance. The movie is full of terrific action, breathtaking visuals, and amazing performances.
The movie not only was fun to watch but also imparted an important message to its viewers. And to be honest, although we are all for entertainment, it doesn’t hurt for a movie to have a message for its viewers, which Aquaman totally does. It touches on the effects of pollution on the environment and how marine life is being affected by waste being dumped into seas and oceans and its harmful effects.
Arthur’s journey through the oceans is very well narrated and picturized. The single shot rotational camera is used occasionally to enhance the overall viewer experience. Hand to hand combats are now getting old, but trident fights are new and exciting to watch. The movie not only features a battle inside the sea but also a fight above the ocean. Arthur Curry’s character shows a strong bond with his father. He is also connected deeply with his mother too. He is strong, muscular and a bit humorous as well.
Few scenes in the movie seem dragged too long but overall the arrangement and transition of scenes is quite balanced. It would have been nice to see some prospects of Atlantean civilization. Inside the water, we can see the bluish ocean visual effects which are amazing to watch especially in 3D. The scenes in the ocean are so well thought and look so real that it is as if Atlantis actually exists.
Aquaman is even going better than Wonder Woman considering the global sale difference with Aquaman leading by $6.2 million and it has only been few days since its release. And after watching the mid-credit scene, we can safely assume there will be a sequel in the coming years (we sure hope so).
The movie is adventurous and visually appealing. It depicts the journey of Arthur in search of the legendary Lost Trident to prove that he is the rightful ruler of Atlantis. We loved the experience and hope that viewers will see more movies like Aquaman in the future.
